MENSA IN GEORGIA NEWS
Several important announcements for Mensa in Georgia!
We are in need of a Recording Secretary (Scribe) to finish out the current year. Duties are basically taking notes at the monthly ExComm meetings, transcribing them for ExComm to approve, and submitting approved minutes to the Editor for publication in the next month's MOTS. This is relatively easy and not very time-intensive; attend 1 hour meeting First Friday each month, disseminate minutes.
We are also in need of a new Membership Officer, whose main duty is to reach out to new members and make them feel welcome to our group, and hopefuly work with Proctors and others regarding special events for new members.
Other open positions are:
Area Coordinator for Macon/Warner Robins, to help those in the surrounding area have contact with other Mensans on a hopefully regular basis Calendar Editor, to work with the event hosts and Editor to have a current calendar of upcoming events for the newsletter SIGHT (Service of Information Guidance and Hospitality to Travelers) Coordinator, who can facilitate travelers' good experiences Most positions have a nationally written handbook, a contact at the National Office, and a group on Mensa Connect to help answer your questions. Additionally, we've successfully trial-run video conferencing software, aso thouse outside the metro Atlanta area, where the meetings usually are, would be able to participate remotely. Elections for the 2019 ExComm will be held soon. The seven elected positions are: Local Secretary,Assistant Local Secretary, Treasurer, Scribe, Editor, and two Members-at-Large. Instructions for running are in the September MOTS. Again, we hope to step up electronic capabilities so members outside the metro Atlanta area can be more involved. All other positions are appointed by the ExComm, and you can contact the MOTS Editor to tender your name to the 2019 ExComm.
